The Phillips 66 fuel brand showed up in a big way during the Phillips 66 Big 12 Basketball Championships in Kansas City. It’s one of the longest running sponsorships in collegiate athletics history, dating back to 1988.
“At Phillips 66, we are committed to providing energy and improving lives in the communities where we live, work and play,” said Pam McGinnis, VP Global Marketing. “Partnerships like the Big 12 allow us to deliver on that commitment by supporting players and fans who live to the full every day.”
That commitment extends to education as part of the Live to the Full® Heroes program. Phillips 66 worked with DonorsChoose to donate $100,000 to teachers in Amarillo and Lubbock, Texas, and Kansas City metro-area schools. The company also honored three extraordinary teachers during the tournament and donated $6,600 to each teacher to fund projects in their schools and classrooms. Teachers spend an average of $500 of their own money every year on supplies.
As part of the Big 12 relationship, Phillips 66 donated $66,000 to the Big 12 scholarship fund.
On the court, Kansas beat Texas Tech to claim its first men’s Big 12 tournament title since 2018, and Texas upset Baylor to win the women’s championship. Chairman and CEO Greg Garland presented the men's trophy, while President and COO Mark Lashier handed over the women's trophy.
