Our Commitment

We support the goals of the Paris Agreement and are committed to being a part of the solution to help the world address climate change. Technology development and deployment are needed to provide energy today and to achieve energy transition goals consistent with those goals.

Our companywide greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets are focused on lowering the emissions intensity of our globally operated assets, the products we manufacture and sell, and to account for market and technological uncertainties.

Managing Methane Emissions

Effectively managing methane emissions may offer a near-term opportunity for society to positively impact Earth’s climate. Methane is relevant to our Natural Gas Gathering and Processing (G&P) assets operations and we manage it by:

Integrating People and Data Systems
We use an in-house application to connect detection data with operational response, helping teams efficiently identify, prioritize and resolve methane events.

Implementing Best Operating Practices
We embed methane management into day-to-day operations through proactive planning and equipment maintenance, and we consider lower-emissions designs for new builds and retrofits where practical.

Utilizing Technology
We apply aerial and satellite monitoring across operated gathering and processing pipelines and pilot new technologies to enable near real-time monitoring of select assets and equipment.

Leveraging Industry and Academia
We share data and best practices through industry forums and we support university-led measurement campaigns that aim to improve methane emissions factors and inventory reconciliations over time.
