Phillips 66 maintains 100 on Corporate Equality Index

Phillips 66 notched a perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index for the second year in a row, reflecting the company’s ongoing commitment to workplace equality.

The index, issued by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, rates companies based on four pillars: nondiscrimination policies, equitable benefits for LGBTQ employees and their families, supporting an inclusive culture and corporate social responsibility.

“Achieving a score of 100 on the Corporate Equality Index for the second year in a row signifies our commitment to ensuring that Phillips 66 is an LGBTQ+ inclusive workplace,” said Natacha Buchanan, Phillips 66 Director of Inclusion and Diversity. “But the real work is not in achieving the score but in keeping it.”

This year, 1,271 U.S.-based companies participated in the report and 842 received a score of 100. This compares with 13 in 2002 when the first Corporate Equality Index was released.

Phillips 66 first received a perfect score in 2021 after several years of continuous improvement. Its score had climbed as the Inclusion and Diversity team began to evaluate where it could improve or implement new policies, including the company’s health benefits and how they related to transgender employees, which were enhanced in 2019.

Phillips 66 Vice President and General Tax Officer Heather Crowder, who serves as the Global Sponsor for the Pride66 employee resource group, said the company continues to build a culture of belonging.

“Creating a diverse and equitable workplace is a dynamic process. It requires continuous improvement,” Crowder said. “Phillips 66 is proud of the achievement that a second perfect 100 on the Corporate Equality Index represents and remains committed to the work needed to maintain it.”
