Phillips 66® Aviation Reached New Altitudes at AirVenture 2024

HOUSTON – (August 15, 2024) – Phillips 66® Aviation and Phillips 66® Lubricants enjoyed a week of notable successes at EAA AirVenture, which was filled with seminars, daily air shows, flight experiences, workshops, demonstrations, prestigious awards and more. Held at Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH) in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, from July 22 to 28, the iconic annual event drew hundreds of thousands of aviation enthusiasts from around the globe.

“AirVenture offers a captivating experience for many reasons, especially the opportunities for networking and engaging with fellow attendees,” said Sunny Lopez, Manager, Phillips 66 Aviation. “As leaders in aviation, we enjoyed sharing our knowledge, insights, and experiences with customers and aviation enthusiasts. With record-breaking attendance, the dynamic environment showcased the growing passion and innovations in the aviation industry, and we were proud to be a part of it.”

Phillips 66 Aviation Fuels and Lubricants offered attendees exclusive show specials, led educational seminars, presented the Phillips 66 Aviation Young Eagles Leadership Award and participated in interviews on EAA Radio. During the event, hundreds of attendees enjoyed refreshing, complimentary popsicles at the Phillips 66 Annual Popsicle Happy Hour.

Keith Clark, Senior Quality & Technical Support Rep, Phillips 66 Aviation, and Steven Strollo, Field Engineer, Phillips 66 Lubricants, led educational sessions that covered topics such as Aviation and Auto Oils: Differences; Misfueling: ABCs of Communication & Verification; and Bob Hoover: A Pilot and a Teacher.

Phillips 66 Aviation awarded Gordon Davis of EAA Chapter 1522 in Cynthiana, Kentucky the EAA Phillips 66 Aviation Young Eagles Leadership Award at the Young Eagles Volunteer Banquet. The Young Eagles program aims to inspire youth aged 8 – 17 by offering free flights in general aviation planes. These flights are made possible by the generosity of EAA member volunteers like Gordon Davis. Since joining the program in 2010, Davis has flown 860 Young Eagles, sharing his passion for aviation and nurturing the dreams of future pilots.

Keith Clark and Steven Strollo continued to captivate interest among attendees by appearing on EAA Radio where they engaged in dynamic discussions about aviation fuels and lubricants with radio hosts Fast Eddie, Digital Dave and Fareed Guyot. Young Eagles Award Winner Gordon Davis joined the airwaves and shared his inspiring story and the journey that led him to make significant contributions to the Young Eagles program. Prior to the official start of AirVenture, Phillips 66 Aviation sponsored the world’s premier AirVenture Cup Cross-Country Air Race (AVC). This annual event welcomes both experimental and factory-built aircraft to participate in an open-circuit race, aiming to capture the essence of the classic air races from aviation’s Golden Age.
